Two BCAF Virtual Events This Weekend

The BCAF has two upcoming Zoom events this weekend: “Pub Night” on Friday Feb 26 (7 pm, PST) and a Q & A with Prof. Scott MacMillan on Sunday Feb 28 (1 pm, PST).

Our last Pub Night was a good chance to reconnect with Aikido friends from around the province, and we enjoyed catching up over our individual beverages of choice. All BCAF and Friends of the BCAF are welcome to join – drop in for a few minutes to say hello, or stay for the entire call: it’s up to you. And as Barb pointed out – there’s no need to take a taxi home afterwards!

Interested parties should contact Myrna at mlhtani@gmail.com to have their names added to the invite list that is sent out prior to the meeting (previous participants do not need to do this). Please let your dojo members know about this social opportunity.

Secondly, the BCAF is happy to present a Q and A session with Prof. Scott MacMillan, author of the CAF’s recently released report on “Aikido Marketing & Retention: Strategies to attract and retain new members”. Prof. MacMillan has an extensive background in physical education and management and has been conducting research on the martial arts for the past five years.

This session will also be held via Zoom conferencing on Sunday, February 28, at 1 pm (PST). Prof. MacMillan will give a brief presentation before making himself available to answer questions. We expect this to be a good opportunity to share ideas regarding dojo marketing to promote student retention and the recruitment of new students in the present, challenging environment.
